On the 18th December 2019, Mother’s Care Children Hospital and Research Centre, Sagolband Moirang Leirak, Imphal West opened a 12 bedded Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) named Lungnila Elizabeth PICU and dedicated it to late Lungnila Elizabeth.
The opening ceremony was held at the premises of Mother’s Care Sagolband Moirang Leirak Imphal, in presence of late Lungnila Elizabeth’s father Francis Ngajokpa and his family members along with the hospital employees.
Chairman cum managing director of Mother’s Care Children Hospital, Dr. Kh. Ratankumar announced that one PICU bed will be kept for admission where parents will not have to pay anything for the bed charges, consultations, investigation done inside the hospital, equipment charges as well as procedures and super specialty referrals.
He said the initiative which is the first of its kind in the state will contribute towards the healthcare of the people who are not financially stable and cannot afford the high cost of intensive care wards.
He mentioned that Mother’s Care Children Hospital as a charitable institute has been on the forefront in initiating noble charitable causes. The institute provides free of cost ambulance services, free ultrasonography and conducts free OPD for paediatric patients on week days by himself, he added.
Since 2017, the institution donates Rs 18,00,000 every year, under the Mother’s Heart Care scheme to the pediatric patients undergoing cardiac related procedures in Imphal Heart Institute, a sister clinic, thereby allowing children with heart disease to undergo free of cost procedures or surgeries, he informed.
He further said that Lungnila Elizabeth Paediatric Intensive Care Unit will serve in pursuance with the altruistic vision of the Mother’s Care Children Hospital to serve the society and needy at large. The dedication is to remember Lungnila every time a sick child is given treatment, he stated.
